What is a doorman?

A doorman is a person who is employed by a building or establishment to greet people as they enter and exit and to provide assistance as needed. The primary duty of a doorman is to ensure the security and safety of the building and its occupants by monitoring who enters and exits and denying entry to unauthorized individuals. In addition to this, doorman duties may include opening doors for guests, carrying luggage, giving directions, hailing taxis, and assisting with packages or deliveries. A doorman must be well-groomed, courteous, and professional in appearance and conduct. They must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have knowledge of the building's policies and procedures. Some doormen may also have specialized training in emergency management and crisis response.
